Sundance Film Festival began as a scrappy gathering for independent filmmakers and grew into the country’s most influential launchpad for new films and new voices. Each January, directors, actors and audiences gather in makeshift theaters to watch premieres, debate ideas and decide what breaks through next. On Jan. 21–31, 2027, the festival heads to Boulder, trading Utah’s mountains for Colorado’s jagged Flatirons, and putting world-class indie cinema within easy reach of Denver.
So, consider the Mile High City your film-fest connection. If you're flying, arrive nonstop into Denver International Airport (DEN) and board the A Line train to Union Station in downtown Denver. If you're driving, Denver’s central location makes it an easy road trip basecamp. Spend your downtime exploring Denver’s acclaimed art museums and galleries before hopping on RTD's Flatiron Flyer to Boulder’s screenings. When the credits roll, cruise back to downtown and unwind at boutique hotels, then toast the night at Michelin-recognized dinner spots.
