Sundance Film Festival FAQs

How far is Denver from Boulder?

Downtown Denver is about 28 miles from Boulder. By bus, the trip usually takes less than an hour, depending on the time of day.

Do I need to rent a car to attend Sundance Film Festival in Boulder?

Nope! From Denver International Airport, just take the A Train into Denver Union Station. From Union Station, you can hop on the FF1 or FF2 bus to Downtown Boulder Station.

What’s the weather like during Sundance in January?

January on the Front Range is usually dry and pleasant, with lots of sunshine and afternoons that often rise above freezing. However, weather changes quickly, so bring along comfy layers.

What should I wear during Sundance Film Festival?

Layering works best. Start with a warm coat for mornings and nights, then plan lighter layers underneath for theaters and midday walking. Coloradans often lean toward casual and comfortable dress in the winter, and most festivalgoers do the same.

Will snow affect getting around?

Rarely for long. Snowfall typically clears within a day, and major routes between Denver and Boulder are maintained quickly. Public transit runs as scheduled in most winter conditions.

When should I book flights and hotels?

As early as possible. Sundance draws national crowds, and January is already a busy season along the Front Range. Early booking gives you better locations and fewer compromises.
